The Otto Group takes responsibility for its activities, which also means looking at the whole value chain. This describes the path that our products take, right from the extraction and processing of raw materials, through manufacturing the finished product, its sales and distribution and finally its use and disposal by consumers. With this integrated approach we are able to align all of our core business processes in a sustainable way by identifying the social and environmental impacts of our business activities. From this we derive strategies and effective measures, and implement these with effective management systems. For example, our Textile Strategy aligns Group-wide goods purchasing more strongly with environmentally friendly raw material sourcing, such as sustainable cotton.
CR Strategy
Where does our responsibility start? For us, the answer is clear: on the cotton field, in timber cultivation, energy generation and consumption – and with people in factories. We see the big picture and set demanding targets.
Supply Chain
Supply chains are globally branched and complex. The Otto Group is meeting this challenge with transparent reporting, for example by publishing factory locations.
CR Organisation
A team that sets the course, develops targets and implements measures is essential for the long-term success of any company. In the Otto Group, sustainability is a top-management responsibility.
History
A true pioneer and role-model: in the 1980s, Prof Dr Michael Otto laid the foundation for sustainable management in the Otto Group. This kicked-off a unique development that continues to the present day.
