Fairness and transparency are key values for us at the Otto Group and form the basis of our conduct. We therefore have zero tolerance for corruption and bribery. We support and agree to abide by the rules of conduct of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on combating corruption in business transactions. We have set up the necessary bodies and procedures with our Group Policies on Anti-Corruption – we remain true to the values of our family company.
The Otto Group responds to global economic, environmental and social challenges on the basis of a vision that puts humankind and nature at the center of its economics activity. Every day, we see how resource scarcity, climate change, the extinction of species, poverty and human rights violations are harming and deteriorating ethical and economic conditions worldwide. Our social and environmental standards for the supply chain, such as our policies and Code of Conduct, lay the foundation for compliance with legal provisions and with the sustainability requirements specific to the Otto Group. The framework of our sustainability strategy also sets ambitious goals that go beyond compliance. In numerous initiatives and alliances, such as amfori, the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, Foundation 2° and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), we work with other companies and partners to achieve sustainable changes. Our objective is to reconcile our growth-oriented business strategy with value-oriented, sustainable practices.
Data protection has the highest priority at the Otto Group. Every day, we process a large amount of personal data at the Otto Group – data from customers, suppliers and our own employees. That represents a major responsibility. In our increasingly digitized world, careful protection of personal data is mandated by law, in particular by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU. We consider the rules of the GDPR to be the minimum standard that must be met in our protection of this data. Our customers, our business partners and our coworkers must be able to rely on our compliance with the law. We have formulated a large number of guidelines to define the structures and processes required for adhering to all aplicable laws.
Our information security is an important factor underlying our current and future success. We are therefore integrating information security into the processes of the Otto Group; we are developing a proper IT security infrastructure; and we are including employees as well as external partners in the security concept. All necessary channels and steps are defined in our Information Security Management System.
We at the Otto Group believe in fairness and in undistorted competition. For us, it therefore goes without saying that we always respect the rules in our interactions with customers and suppliers and whenever we meet competitors. We do not take part in any form of anticompetitive agreements. Performance, quality and innovation form the basis of our business success. We have set up the necessary administrative structures and processes, and we take action to preserve our customers’ and business partners’ trust.
There are many different compliance challenges facing the Otto Group. Our compliance work is not only limited to the core compliance issues. We analyze and review our core processes continuously and integrate new compliance risks into our Compliance Management System (CMS).
