Quelle.de relaunches with a new business concept

The former retail platform quelle.de is relaunching as an online shop with a reengineered business model as of 2 May 2013. The focus will remain on the Consumer Electronics and Living assortments.

Over 300,000 products are available with immediate effect from quelle.de, including home electronics appliances, furniture, computers, entertainment electronics and media, DIY, leisure, sports and houseware products, as well as toys and home textiles. These assortments are assembled exclusively from the richly varied offer of the German, Austrian and Swiss Otto Group companies.

In contrast to quelle.de’s previous business model, an Internet marketplace with very diverse retailers, the strategic new direction is based on an online shop using strong Group synergies. This means the online shop and stock systems, the sales and distribution infrastructure, Category Management and the entire logistics system will be assured by the respective Otto Group companies.

The range of payment options now open to quelle.de customers is also new: they can pay for their orders by invoice or in instalments. Customer loyalty to the QUELLE brand in Germany remains high. This loyalty is now to be strengthened and further expanded by a reworked online marketing concept.

Since the beginning of the year, the registered headquarters of quelle.de is Burgkunstadt; this is also the home of the BAUR Group, which is managing the new quelle.de retail concept. To be able to offer quelle.de products at very good value for money, the sales and distribution market operations in the German-speaking countries are synergetically bundled at UNITO in Salzburg. UNITO is a subsidiary of the German BAUR Group and has been operating Quelle very successfully since 2010 in Switzerland and 2011 in Austria.
