The Otto Group acquired Freemans in 1999. In 2000, the administrative departments of the two British mail-order firms Grattan and Freemans were consolidated under the Otto UK umbrella.

Established in 1905 with a staff of four, the brand prides itself on remaining at the forefront of fashion to this day.

Its customers can find the latest trends as well as aspirational homeware. Freemans recently began collaborating with top designers including Scott Henshall. In 2006, the company won two prestigious fashion awards – More Magazine’s ‘Most Aspirational Mail Order Catalogue’ and Prima Magazine’s ‘Best Mail Order Brand’. In 2007, Freemans retained a Prima award title.
